About Kathy

Kathy Crawford has worked as a professional in the Field of Aging for more than 30 years.  She retired from the City of Novi in 2004 to launch her own business, “Kathy Crawford Communications.” She has authored several workbooks for senior center directors and is a frequent workshop presenter and keynote speaker.  Kathy also co-authored the book                        Two Broads Abroad, a project that proves neither travel savvy or computer prowess are requirements for writing a book about a six-week trip overseas.

Kathy's lengthy career in the field of aging began as an employee of Oakland County as the Director of programming for 35 senior citizen centers sponsored by the Oakland/Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA). In addition, she was employed as an OLHSA Field Service Manager, directing, managing and training staff that provided a variety of programs for low-income families in Oakland County. Kathy left OLHSA to write the job description for Novi Senior Citizen Director and then started Novi's first comprehensive senior citizen center and, eventually, affordable senior citizen housing (Meadowbrook Commons).

Throughout her career, Kathy has been involved in the budget process. She has been successful in acquiring State and Federal grants and managed grant funding for Novi and Oakland County. In addition, she prepared and managed her portion of the Novi Parks and Recreation budget and all of the necessary paperwork related to operating a small business (Kathy Crawford Communications).
